Back in Action

Some of you may have noticed a lull in posts about our adoption and it was for good reason. While we can't go into details, everything in Ethiopia was pretty much frozen for the last month and a half with no movement on court dates, referrals or travel. However, we are so excited (hence the business people jumping for joy above) because we received word on Friday that everything is back to normal and things are moving through the process again!

It was definitely hard to add more time to our wait, and to do so with little information, but we are glad our agency and the Ethiopian government proceeded with such care in this situation. Also, we feel like we had an easy go of it because our son is still faceless and nameless to us. Of course we long for him even though he is still unknown to us, but we are aware of many other families who were literally preparing to travel and had to pause everything for this period of time. I can't imagine how hard it would be to know your child and yet be unable to go get them. Thankfully and hopefully, these families will not have to wait much longer.

On that note, we are approaching the 3-month mark since we have been on the waitlist for a referral. We don't yet know how the recent slow-down has affected our wait-time, but getting the news last week gave us such a jolt of excitement. Even though we may not be, we both feel so much closer to the day we will go get our little boy now and anxiously await the phone call from our agency and the package in the mail telling us who he is.

That said, we are about 3-4 weeks away from the Ethiopian courts closing for 2 months for the rainy season. We have been told that if we get a referral before the courts close then it is possible to get rushed through court and be cleared to travel during the August-September rainy season. However, there is probably only a slim chance of this happening, but we are excited for the possibility. If we don't get a referral before the closure, we probably won't hear anything until the beginning of October when everything re-opens.

Overall, it is easy to frustrated and detached, especially when you just don't know anything. But, we are holding fast and know that someday soon, we will indeed be bringing a little boy home with us. That fact alone, keeps us moving forward. We are thankful for your continued prayers for our little boy, for us and for the country of Ethiopia.

Lastly, until the day when we can post such a video on our blog, please check out the moment our friends the Albertson's met their son, Sam, for the first time in Ethiopia just a few months ago. We can't wait for this moment!

Sweet friends...
I'm so, so excited that things are moving again... you are that much closer to having your "moment" and I think I might be just as overjoyed for your moment as I was for ours :). Praying for you as you await the predestined day that you will see your son's face for the first time... it is truly magical...
