Small Town Parade in Big City

Every 4Th of July, Capitol Hill hosts a local parade. Anyone can get a part in the parade, like schools, clubs, or causes. Then you add a band, local fire truck, Ms. DC, a politician and you have yourself one heck of a small town turnout. With the streets closed and everyone lined up it begins. We march down Barracks Row and into the Eastern Market while the streets gather for the event. The last time we participated there was a "princess" section for girls and super hero section for the boys. However, being the dead beat parents that we are did not get the memo that there was no princess section so we joined in with our elementary school (Ellie VERY upset to be in princess attire while everyone else had regular clothes). But the show must go on, and she rallied.
